When my son was a born he was plagued by skin irritations like eczema and dermatitis. Although at the time we were eating organic food and living a health conscious lifestyle, I had no understanding of the ingredients in our everyday personal care products, what they did, and how they affected our lives. I certainly never made the connection and was left to wonder what more I could do.
When his doctor told me that infant eczema almost certainly led to adolescent asthma I wondered what I could do to prevent this rather than simply waiting for it to happen. At the time there was little or no available information on the subject of natural body care with most of the products available being hard to access, short on choice, crudely made and difficult to apply. I started making simple balms for friends and family and later I opened my retail store in Boonah, Queensland. The range I have now has been developed out of the needs and wants of my customers during this time and it is now a complete collection for real people. My son is now a perfectly healthy teenager with no sign or symptom of asthma. He even claims all of the credit for the range saying that it wouldn’t have existed without him, and of course he’s right.
At Arvensis we continue to create our products with only certified organic ingredients that have proven skin nourishing and protective qualities and we don’t intend to ‘improve’ our formulas, after all how exactly do you improve on nature? We began in the small country town of Boonah and we continue now with that country town philosophy of purity and simplicity in everything we do.
