1. What is the shelf life of your products?
Arvensis products contain only a small amount of natural preservative derived from olive and almonds. This, in conjunction with our airless containers, maintains our products freshness on the shelf for up to 2 years. Our product labels have best before dates printed on them to let you know how fresh they are. They must also be used within three months of opening as once they are exposed to oxygen they start to slowly oxidize and eventually become less effective.
2. Do I need to store your products in the fridge?
No, not unless you want to. Most bathrooms are warm, humid places so just make sure you store your skincare away from heat and out of direct sunlight. Due to the low melting point of shea butter, our Baby Bottom Balm may liquefy on very hot summer days and although it can still be used effectively, you may want to reset it in the fridge (it is also very soothing cool).
3. Are your products certified organic?
Not completely, but we use a percentage system to let you know how much of the product contains certified organic ingredients. For example, out Light Face Cream is 92% certified organic, meaning that 92% of the product contains certified organic content and the other 8% is made of ingredients derived from 100% natural and chemical free sources. Some ingredients such as the natural Australian clay just cannot be certified. Some of our products contain as much as 99% certified organic content.
4. What preservatives do you use to keep your products fresh?
Our products contain a small amount of natural preservative called Plantaserve Q which is naturally derived from olives and almonds. This gives the products their very mild signature almond scent. Our airless containers also help to keep our products fresh with their unique airless technology using a disc in the base of the container that is forced upwards every time the product is dispensed. This stops air from entering the container and causing the product to oxidize. Please refer to Q.1 for further information on the products shelf life.
5. How do you test your products for safety?
Our products are never tested on animals at any point in the production process. We test our products for effectiveness on happy human volunteers. We don’t use any chemicals or by-products which can cause advise reactions in people. If you know you are sensitive to a particular ingredient please check our online ingredient list or product labels for information. You can also email us at info@arvensis.com.au with any questions
6. Which products am I able to use during pregnancy or on a newborn child?

Both our Mother & Baby Massage Oil and Shea & Calendula Baby lotion are completely fragrance free. None of our baby products contain nut oils.

8. Do you have products for all skin types?
Our products are effective and nourishing for all skin types, especially sensitive skin.
9. My teenage daughter has acne and she’s afraid of using products containing oil. Do you have an oil-free product for her skin type?
Unfortunately it’s a common belief that oily and acne prone skin should be cleansed and scrubbed to remove all dirt and oils from the pores. Stripping the skin of its vital protective oils often leaves it feeling tight and dry which forces the skin into damage control. It then creates more oil than it needs to compensate for the oil that has been lost. Sweet Almond Oil is the closest natural oil to that produced by your skin therefore it can be easily absorbed and used buy the skin for nourishing and healing. Those with acne prone or very oily skin should use the Arvensis Light Cream Cleanser to gently cleanse impurities and excess sebum then dry the skin gently on a clean towel and apply a very small amount of Arvensis Light Face Cream. Repeat twice daily. Treatment for acne requires a holistic approach which takes into account diet, hydration, stress, and correct skincare. Also try changing your daughter’s pillowcases daily, this can often make quite a difference.
